When hosting a party, there are so many things to think about from the food to the venue and just making the day is as successful as it can be. However if you are hosting a party where alcohol will be served certain measures should be considered to make sure that all your guests get home safe. Below are tips for being a responsible host.

#1. Transportation

The dangers of driving while drunk cannot be over emphasized. While sending out invitations for the party, state on the cards that people drinking alcohol should come with drivers or make sure they have someone sober to drive them home. Take a step further by providing public transportation for guest that get drunk with no one to take them home. Gathering mobile phones and car keys when guests arrive is a good idea.

#2. Control alcohol

Hire a bar tender or serve alcohol yourself to ensure that there is a limit on alcohol consumption. Make sure that the person in charge is strict enough and does not compromise no matter what. You can also try serving alcohol in smaller glasses rather than larger ones. let guest know that nonalcoholic drinks are also available.

#3. Serve nonalcoholic drinks

Serving, only alcoholic drinks in your party will give the impression that you are actually encouraging people to get drunk. Try to avoid people getting drunk by serving nonalcoholic drinks. Apart from water, you can consider adding fruit juices and nonalcoholic wine to the drinks.

#4. Keep personal and dangerous items

More emphasis can be placed on this if the party is for kids and young adults. If you have precious glass items or items that can be easily damaged its best if you keep them away before the party starts. Make sure all types of weapons and firearms are completely kept out of sight. Also some people steal in parties so again if you have precious personal items it is best to keep them away.

#5. Food

Even though food does not exactly stop a person from getting drunk, people that have their stomachs full have a tendency to drink less than hungry people. Also alcohol has a faster effect on hungry people. So serve filling food that will help slow down the effect of the alcohol.

#6. Underage drinking

If your party will involve underage guests remember that under no circumstances should minors be allowed to consume alcohol. Certain countries are very strict regarding legal drinking ages, in fact, you can be held criminally liable if your under-aged party-goer gets drunk at your party. This can be a bit challenging if the party is both for kids and adults

A lot of things happen when people get drunk. From losing things to behaving in an inappropriate manner. At the end of your party you should try to make sure that at least almost everyone goes home as sober as they came in, which includes the party host. So this means that you should either avoid or limit your alcohol consumption.
