A bridal shower is a nice occasion for the close family and friends of the bride to spend relaxed time with her before the big wedding day. Most times it’s the maid of honor and bride’s maids that organize it. Whether it’s the bride herself or her friends organizing it, below are some great tips that will help in planning an awesome bridal shower.

#1. Location

Decide if the location will be at a restaurant or any other venue. Most brides these days ignore the traditional home bridal shower and go in for somewhere more fun. For instance many bridal parties take the bride out for a day at the spa or the beach.

#2. Theme

The theme is usually used to guide the decorations, and sometimes people’s dressing. The theme should be something related to what the bride likes for instance, if the bride loves to cook it can be a food related theme. However sometimes couples decide to have a jack and Jill shower in this case the theme has to be something special to the couple for instance a place where they have travelled to before.

Make the invitation as attractive as possible. From the shape, colors, down to the details- everything should be catchy. This will help in getting people excited even before the day. If the party is a surprise, be sure to note this prominently on the invitation. Also some brides choose to send an Evite or create a Facebook event and invite everyone to the party for free. The issue with this is that not everyone uses the Internet regularly.

#4. Bridal shower games

There are so many easy and fun game that you can add to your bridal shower to make it interesting and exciting. For instance you can write down a list of questions regarding the groom, pose them to the bride and see how many she gets right. Also, you can get cheap toilet paper, divide the guests into teams and assign them to create the best toilet paper “wedding dress”. Remember the idea here is to keep everyone entertained so everyone should be included.

#5. Menu

The menu doesn’t have to be very complicated or expensive. Remember it’s just a bridal shower not the wedding itself. It’s much more cost effective to make food for yourself or better still, ask each of your invitees to bring a dish when coming. In most bridal showers, only serve  finger foods and drinks are served.

#6. Decorations

The theme of the shower should be used to guide how the showers will be. It is important that the decorations are perfect because they will be used to set the stage for the event. For instance if the theme is a floral shower the decorations should include flowers. Be creative as much as possible.

The bride is the queen of the day, so be sure that in your planning you don’t do anything that will make her feel otherwise. Remember to keep the shower interesting and romantic.
