Organizing any party for kids takes time and patience. The more prepared you are ahead of time, the better the chances are that it will all run smoothly. Below are tips you could make use of when organizing a Halloween party for kids.

Before The Party

#1. Plan Ahead of Time

Even a simple party requires a lot of planning. Make sure you know exactly what everything is going to be done, estimate how long each game or activity will take. Make a schedule for the day to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

#2. Theme

Consider the style of Halloween party that will interest the kids. There are so many themes to choose from like Haunted theme, fairytale theme, horror theme etc., so start deciding now.  Since it’s a party for kids, allow the kids to get involved by picking the theme.

#3. Invitations

Get your party invitations out 1-2 weeks before the party. To avoid any confusion, clearly state the date and time, instructions about themes, costumes, etc. remember to make your invitation very enticing this can help in building the mood before time.

#4. Decorations

After the theme has been set, then you will know what type of decorations to purchase. Remember if it is for younger kids it shouldn’t be so scary. If the party is going to be indoors, utilize cobwebs from corner to ceiling and a fog machine in the doorway. Hang paper spiders or bats in not-so-obvious areas and if the lights are dim, invest in a few bottles of glow-in-the-dark spray.

During The Party

#1. Rules

Just before the party begins, make a welcome speech and let the kids know what is allowed and what’s not. Kids sometimes can be extreme.

#2. Food

Halloween wouldn’t be Halloween without goodies and a lot of it. It is a good idea to ask your guests or their parents if they have any allergies, if the allergy is something you are unfamiliar with then ask the parents of the child to provide some suitable treats for their child – it is better to be safe than sorry. Try dressing up your food to look like gross things such as eyeballs, body parts, etc. you could try getting red colored drinks so it could look like blood.

#3. Movies and Music

Play classic horror movies on the background to set the mood. It is best to use a projector for better viewing. If you don’t want the sound to distract your guests then you can put the volume very low or mute. Examples of movies include naturally Halloween or for a less frightening one you can try The Addams Family. For the music you can put together a playlist of kid’s favorite songs like Thriller by Michael Jackson etc.

#4. Activities

Since it’s a party for kids its important to keep them occupied with fun activities from the start to the end of the party. Make a list of games that will keep them entertained. You could make a pumpkin decorating contest or a costume contest.

#5. Photos

Get someone to volunteer to be the photographer of the day. Make sure that every moment is taken and then later put them in a photo album for remembrance.

At the end of the party, don’t let the kids leave empty handed. Hand out gifts to game contest winners and make up some party favor bags with Halloween candy for everyone.
