With the year 2015 coming to an end, we begin to reflect on what we have achieved over the last 12 months and the changes that we have gone through in our careers and our lives in general. It is a good time to think about how to improve oneself to achieve your goals for 2016 and beyond. This article proposes 7 goals to aspire to as an Event Manager to help you work out your new year’s resolutions for 2016.
#1. Aspire To Stand Out
You are always at competition with other event planning companies and organisations. The best thing you can possibly do to make a difference is by going all out to be the best in what you do, offering services that cannot be compared with other event companies. Whether you are new to this business or have been in it for quite a long time, you need to improve yourself is a constant. Research, innovate, try out new things and ideas that can help you continue to improve and implement new ideas that stand out from the rest.
#2. Acquire A Stable Work Life Balance
The hurdle that event planners can’t seem to jump over is trying to maintain a stable work life balance. Although we are meant to work in day in and day out to ensure that the end result of each event we plan should be perfect, let us not forget we have other things waiting and a whole life out there to live. Do not allow your physical and mental health to take a backseat to your professional commitments. Make time for your family and yourself.
#3. Engage In More Events
Begin to involve yourself in more events that will bring you publicity and sell out the name of your company and brand out there, feel free to interact with the audience, your events should allow the guest / attendees to engage with each other and be able to share ideas and thoughts. Be inspired to go the extra mile.
#4. Initiate Innovate Ideas
Come up with authentic ideas and concepts to help boost your business, get your brain to start working and produce fresh original event ideas, it will propel your business and build up your status as an event planner / manager.
#5. Enhance Online Registration and Virtual Ticket Sales
Providing the guest and potential clients with online registration on your website will enable them to keep up-to-date with you and be able to buy tickets online for your shows and events, attendees won’t have to wait for hours standing in long queues just to get a ticket.
#6. Set Limits and Boundaries
There should always be a set limit to the things you allow from me and how far you can put up with someone’s behavior. Do not take on too much stress and burdens that you won’t be able to handle, do what you can do and know when to say NO, there should be a limit to the things we allow ourselves to do.
#7. Lead With Your Heart
Lead with all understanding and perseverance, do not wait for someone else to tell you what to do, be the boss of your own self and lead your team members that are looking up to you, be their motivator as you continue to be a better leader.
So there you have it, these are worthy goals to include with the ones you have already written down, aim to achieve and put them into practice. Happy New Year from us.
