The most noticeable and probably talked about detail after the wedding will be the dress of the bride. Although other things matter and add up to the success of the event, getting the right dress is quite important. However well planned or arranged the wedding will be, the perfect dress adds the icing to the cake. Both money and time should be put into making sure the bride’s wedding dress is the perfect fit and with these tips you will be able to assist the bride-to-be with getting the right dress.
#1. Be helpful as well as honest
Not everybody likes the same thing- one man’s couture is another man’s rag. The bride-to-be may not be interested in what you see as the ideal dress so you will have to know how to air your opinion without sounding too obstinate about it. Be able to render help, but do not be bossy about it. Your client looks up to you for an honest opinion and support as an event planner and advisor. Act professionally in every decision you make.
#2. Assist her in dealing with family drama
Family members and close friends are bound to accompany the bride-to-be to the dress fitting; so friends and family members will have a lot to say about what they like and dislike, by criticizing and being pushy to some extent. It is your job as the planner to ensure that there is no conflict or controversy between them and that they do not make the bride feel pressured or doubtful about what she wants.
#3. Find a dress that matches the décor
As the wedding planner, you have to help your client find a dress that is in sync with the decoration and theme of the wedding. It is very important to get a dress which has the same colors and style of the wedding theme, to maintain proper coordination. If the theme of the wedding hasn’t been decided yet, the bride-to-be is free to pick any dress according to her taste.
#4. Consider the location of the wedding
Knowing the location of the wedding will determine the style of the dress that will be appropriate for the occasion. Wearing a long-sleeved dress while outdoors during the summer is definitely not a very good idea. Getting a dress with a shawl can be used to wear indoors, as the bride can either decide to put the shawl on or decide otherwise. So, the venue should always be a factor one should consider when buying the dress.
#5. Try out enough dresses but not too much
Don’t be surprised when the first dress your client puts on is “the one” according to her, make sure she tries different dresses too. Trying other dresses will enable the bride-to-be to have as many options as possible to choose from. However, at the other end of the scale, she may try on too many dresses and have a decision making crisis that you will get the back-end off. So try to keep it balanced.
