#1. Pick the perfect location

A bonfire party can be held almost anywhere although most of them are usually at the beach. Regardless of the spot, you must make sure it is safe, easily accessible and suitable for the occasion. If it is going to be in an open place, chances are that you will need to get permission from local authorities. Also don’t forget to confirm if the venue has facilities that you will need like a toilet and so on. Find out how early you need to book the place. Remember it’s a bonfire so you might want to avoid anywhere that is has a lot of flammables.

#2. Choose a date and time

Even though some people choose to hold their bonfire party during the day, it’s usually held at night. Not only will the fire be best when its dark the moon light also adds to the beauty of the event. Besides in most bonfire parties glow accessories are distributed which do not function well during the daytime.

Just like the time, you can also pick any date for your event that suits you and your guests. However it is best to choose a date that is a holiday or weekend when most people are free. It doesn’t make sense holding an event when most people on your guest list have school or work. Also make sure that you confirm with the weather before deciding on the day. You don’t want your bonfire to fall on a rainy day.

#3. Activities

To ensure that the party is fun and exciting, plan a list of fun activities that everyone can be a part of. Make sure the activities vary as much as possible so that people don’t get bored of doing the same thing. Examples of appropriate activities include: storytelling, sing along, dancing, poetry, drama, competition in groups, card games, board games etc. just be creative with the activities and make sure that guests have fun. Better still you can ask your invitees what they would love to do during the party, this can help guide you.

#4. Menu

A party isn’t really complete if there is nothing good to munch on. Apart from toasting marshmallows which is a must, you need to provide other things that will be filling for your guests. Take into consideration people that might be allergic to certain dishes and go in for variety so that everyone can have something. Go in for meals that are easy to prepare like Veggies, Hot Dogs and Burgers, popcorn, chocolate bars, chips etc.

#5. Building the fire

You can have a simple stack of old wood in a pit on the ground or go in for a fire pit which is even a safer method. To be more detailed you can go ahead and arrange the woods starting with the longer ones at the bottom to form a triangle shape keep adding logs to the fire as it burns down.

In as much as you want your guests to have fun, remember that safety is paramount when it comes to outdoor activities. Remember to completely extinguish the fire before leaving and tell guests to come with blankets and insect repellents.
