You’ve probably been working on your songs for so long and now you’re finally ready for the whole world to hear them. A lot goes into making a CD release party a successful one and it rests entirely on how well you prepare. Below are tips that can help in ensuring your launch will be one for the books.
#1. Get your fans excited
A great way to build excitement amongst your fan base leading up to the release of a new album is to organize a pre-sale campaign. This will get them talking about your CD release party. An example could be a contest in your community, where everyone that buys ticket or has sold more than three tickets is entered in to win a prize. The prize could be a free ticket or an Autographed CD, T-Shirt. Remember to also keep your online fans involved as well. Get them involved in some way other than inviting them.
#2. Get help
Organizing an album launch is not an easy task and you will need help to get through with it. You as the artist already have a lot on your plate. Therefore you will need help in other areas like sound, selling CDs, lighting, etc. Get a reliable team and explain what exactly you need them to do and also answer any questions they may have. Your team could include someone in charge of the sounds, camera/video, setting the hall, selling CDs and other merchandise etc. at the end of the program remember to show appreciation to your team for their efforts.
#3. Publicize your event
Make sure you properly announce your event in all media platforms you have access to. Newspaper, radio, bloggers and social media, TV- all of them. Send them the cd, schedule interviews and so on. Try your best to start advertising as early as possible, so your event will be on air long enough. Apart from social media, you could print posters and distribute all over town. Another effective means of publicity is through word of mouth. Tell your friends and family to share the word with other people.
#4. Make your album accessible
Make sure that your CDs are available for sale just in case someone wants to buy them both on the day and after. They should also be available for online purchases since not everyone will like to buy hard copies them because people prefer to have the songs directly on their phones so it will be wise to have your album on iTunes etc.
#5. Feature other artists
It’s always nice to have a few of our fellow artist perform at your launch. Not only will they be supporting you but you will also be promoting them if they are very popular artists they can help draw a crowd to your event. Allow them to sell their CDs or any other merchandise they have and remember to show them appreciation for coming.
Organizing an event is definitely a lot of work but if you focus and stay organized, you’ll have a successful CD release party. Remember to have fun, and if you are new in the industry select a few trusted artists that can give you advice.
