As you can tell, prices vary from one place to another, the cost of a shoe in a certain boutique will not be the same in another shop. This theory also applies to Event planners, the fees you will be charging for your service will be different to that of another event planner who offers the same type of service. Some may base their explanation on being more experienced and good at what they do than others, which is true at times. Increasing your prices for your services is not a bad thing, you can do that without losing clients, even if they do complain, at the end they will comply.
I will advise you to not be irrational or decide to raise your prices without considering these things:
- You have gained an extra certification related to your career and learnt a new skill that will contribute immensely to your career.
- You have worked with well-known and respected people and increased your business network.
- A few years of work experience has been gained, plus other event planners are raising their prices around your work area.
- Clients come to you on a daily basis to the extent that you have fully booked and have to other choice than to turn them down, yet your profit is not as much as it should be.
Novice planners that are trying to figure out why other event planners are increasing their prices will have to note that, some of them are more experienced than others planning companies and have added skills. Putting you fees up will have to come with added worth when offering you service, your customers have to know that they can benefit from it despite the high fee. As long as you know you excel at what you do and have others cheering you on, you are ready for this. These steps will help you with your decision.
#1. Services Comes With Extra Packages
For most clients they will want extra services or offers apart from the normal kind of services you offer. You are allowed to charge for those services, as long as it’s different from the normal ones. The clients will happily pay for any extra cost, as they are satisfied with what they are getting.
#2. Gain More Skill & Knowledge
Gaining new skill and knowledge should be one of the main reason you should decide to increase your service fees. The skill you have acquired and knowledge you have received, puts you in a better position and standing, making you seem more professional in what you do.
#3. Improve Yourself At What You Do
With every skill you are endowed with, you should always work on offering the best and improving yourself throughout. You cannot charge for a service that is no different from an ordinary service which some other event planner can offer for a cheap price. Quality should be your number one priority in your service, work and skills. Continue to be better at what you do, that will justify the reason behind the increase of fees.
#4. Use Better Products And Exclusive Salesperson(s)
Quality matters when people are paying extra for something. As they are paying for the extra fees, you will need to invest in quality products and services to offer your clients the best of what they can have. Add quality things and extra little details to upgrade your service and give the client a reason to pay for the fee, despite how absurd (expensive) the price may be.
#5. Extra Charge On A Day-to-day Basis
If you are not yet prepared to permanently increase your overall fee on your services, you can decide to charge extra on a day-to-day basis for extra services or additional facilities a customer requires. As long as they are ready to pay, don’t hold back, they need to understand the regular services varies from the extra packages.
#6. Know Your Worth Before Charging
Being able to know what your services worth will determine how well you can determine the fees to charge your clients. As long as you are experienced in what you are doing and have proven to people that your service is worth having, then they will cooperate with you despite your extra charges and fees.
