Fashion is always changing therefore when organizing a fashion show you need to put in that little bit extra that will make your show stand out and different from the rest. Below are five great tips to ensure that your guests enjoy your show.
#1. Gather a team
Organizing a fashion show requires a lot of work and you cannot do it by yourself. Depending on your budget you could either hire professionals or otherwise simply recruit family members. Another good option is to get fashion students to help you out. They will see it as a great opportunity to learn. Your team should consist of a backstage producer, a show producer, a model coordinator, a PR coordinator, a DJ, a seamstress and a make-up artist.
#2. Decide on the theme
You will need to decide on the theme of your collection. The theme has an effect on the decorations and the way your guests dress to some extent. Examples of fashion themes include summer collections, classic collections, bridal collections, ethical fashion etc. However, just because there is a team doesn’t mean you should strictly stick to it. You can use your creativity and be as inventive as you like.
#3. Venue
Finding the right venue is very important. Right venue means you need to consider the location, a hall that is big enough for your audience, the runway, changing rooms and a place suitable for lighting effects. Make sure that your guest can easily find the location as well.
#4. Models expensive
If you are working on a tight budget, hiring professional models can be quite . Generally it’s quite easy to get people to volunteer to be your models. You might also want to consider getting diverse shapes, sizes and heights. If your volunteers aren’t experienced taking out at least two days to practice will be a good idea.
#5. The event itself
On the day of the event, get to the hall at least an hour or two earlier to ensure that everything is set. Make sure the models fit in their clothes properly. It is usually wise to set up an agenda for the day before the day you could set up a meeting with your team to share ideas on how the show will be like. Having a continuous catwalk show will not be a good idea because the models will need time to change. So there should be entertainment intervals because your guests need to be entertained throughout. Entertainment ideas include, poetry, singing, a juggler etc. remember to start and end on time and most importantly be organized.
The focus of every event planner should be that the guests enjoy your event. Their perception about the program is very important as that determines if your event was a success or not. Your guests have probably been to other fashion shows so try as much as you can to make yours the best. Give out goodie bags with samples of hair and makeup products. Serve food and wine before or after the program and finally show your appreciation by saying a big ‘thank you’ to all of them.
