We are going to take a look at the things you may or may not have heard about yourself as an event planner. Some may not be as pleasing as you may have imagined; nevertheless, it is good to be aware of the common personality stereotypes associated with event planners and see if any apply to you.

#1. Either seen as a control freak or a perfectionist

Although you might be trying to make sure everything is in place and exactly how it should be, there is a very thin line between being a perfectionist and a complete control freak. Getting yourself worked up will stress you out and leave you feeling anxious.

Your team members are there to help you go through this phase and endure the load together. There will be times you find yourself in situations that you can’t handle and the inevitable flop will happen, you can’t stop that from happening, but you can put it under control. Be calm about what you do and move on with your work.

#2. A workaholic

Your job is one that most will want to have, believe it or not. It may appear desirable but not as splendid as others think it is. Working as an event planner involves long tedious working hours, sleepless nights and tiring moments.

There is no time to rest, especially for an event that requires your undivided attention and dedication. You may not have time for yourself, your family members or friends during when working on an upcoming event. The good news is, there may gaps between events from time to time, you use to recuperate and get ready for the next project.

#3. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas

Secrecy with what goes on between you and your clients is a respected value. Working with prestigious people will require you to not speak about what goes on in the backstage or the things you hear. People will appreciate you for your honesty and ability to be able to trust you with anything.  They don’t expect to go out and hear what was said or done indoors. Keep things under the radar.

#4. Not being the centre of attention

The sad part about being an event planner is no one gets to see the face behind the frame; you are hidden behind the scene. All you do is work and offer your best services without showing face or making yourself seen. Humility is very important and is one of the vital characteristics every Event Planner must have.

#5. Cranky personality

Event planning is known as one of the most stressful jobs, it can get an otherwise relatively calm personality completely worked up and blowing smoke. All the stress, coupled with the schedule and deadline you have will pressurize you and escalate your stress level. You are entitled to complain, moan, but keep up those smiles, at least till you are alone and finally able to unleash the fury.

In all you do, you are amazing and talented, putting smiles on people’s face and satisfying them. Despite these traits that may turn out to be your flaws, it’s all worth it.
